Theater classes

Theater classes offer the best opportunity to work on theater technique in a fun and supportive setting. Students  will learn from their talented peers.  The students will focus on particular aspects of performance and/or

production under their teachers' guidance.

The students' ideas inspire the final showcase--from selecting material to creating stories, props and costumes.

This class allows children to develop acting skills through observation in a group setting.

Studies reveal students who can observe how others learn are able to process and retain information more easily. Groups provide positive peer interaction. A group becomes a comfortable place where class participants can motivate each other. Students involved with group theater lessons regularly practice and perform in front of one another, which reduces the fear of performing in public.

Showcase's Group class helps prepare students for the transition onto the Stage. They will prepare for the Winter Performance and Spring Performance

These classes draw on students’ strengths and abilities for every aspect of the final production. Students will focus on  bringing characters to life through creative movement, improvisation and text.  They will also create most costumes, props  or set pieces they might need. Each student commits to being an integral part of the process and final

performance. As with any team, each student’s presence and participation are important -so please consider your schedule when registering.

DRESS CODE

Showcase Performing Arts Center's Theater department has a dress code in place for the safety and comfort of our performers. Students should arrive to class dressed in loose, casual clothing they can move in. Acting is a full-body experience. No midriffs, short-shorts or jeans are permitted at Showcase PAC. Sandals and shoes without backings are dangerous for the stage. We do not want any performers tripping or twisting their ankles, which is why actors practice either barefoot or in close-toed dance shoes.
