Showcase Starpower Competitive Dance Team is an advanced-level competitive program for dancers ages Kindergarten -12th grades for the 2020 – 2021 dance year. Through participation, dancers will intensify their training to result in a higher level of technique, performance, and artistry; providing the experience and training needed for dancers to audition for high school and college dance teams and continue dance in higher education and beyond.

The Starpower Competitive Dance team holds a goal“create excellence without sacrificing childhood" for our dancers. It is our mission to use dance as a tool to create leaders who embody respect, self-confidence, reliability and determination. It is our ambition to use dance as a method to teach life lessons in a family friendly, age-appropriate, community focused, safe environment.

Program Benefits:

Only a small percentage of the dancers in our Competition Program will move on to professional dance careers; therefore, the program focuses on educating young people to strive for their personal best in anything they want to accomplish. We achieve our goals for the program by offering young people the chance to:

• gain a sense of balance in life by managing their commitments to both dance and academics;

• participate in a physical activity that enhances understanding of the value of a healthy body; 

• develop a sense of confidence when speaking or making a presentation in a public setting, which is also a great benefit in college or job interviews;

• work with mentors who are focused on the students’ success inside and outside of the classroom;

• enjoy friendships that could last a lifetime and a sense of belonging to an extended family of fellow dancers, teachers, and parents;

• learn to prioritize, multitask, problem solve, learn conflict resolution and effective communication between peers;

• discover the results of hard work and determination; and

• develop a lifelong appreciation for the performing arts.

The Starpower Competitive Dance Team is proud to honor our commitment to make quality training in dance education available to every interested student by offering three levels of commitment. By offering three levels of commitment our dedicated and well-rounded dance faculty is able to be sure every student who is looking to gain more from their dance training is able.
